Mentoring for B2B Marketers

Get where you want to go, faster

Trying to hit targets, build a high-performing team, and demonstrate value to the board and wider business all at the same time soon becomes a sucky situation if you have critical gaps in your skills or knowledge.

Whether you're a first-time Marketing leader or a seasoned executive, it pays to have an experienced operator in your corner to bounce ideas off, challenge your thinking, and offer guidance and accountability for your go-to-market approach and decision-making.

Turn that suck into suck-cess (🙄) with a B2B Marketing mentor who can help you fill in those gaps, and accelerate your learning curve as a leader.

Who can really benefit

First-time or newly-promoted in-house marketing leaders…

In B2B SaaS startups with high growth expectations and/or transformational demands…

Experiencing a skills or knowledge gap in one or more of the following areas:

If this is you, you are likely a high-potential individual who has the ambition and talent required to achieve this on your own—but you also recognise you may not have the runway or resource required to do so within the fast-paced environment of the startup world.

A mentor can help you compress this learning curve and accelerate your journey to achieving your goals through practical, real-world advice on how to navigate these situations on an ongoing basis.

If you fall outside of this profile or require help in a different area, feel free to get in touch to see if there's potential to work together.

Who the hell am I, and how can I help?

Hi. I'm Tom. Having built and scaled successful B2B Marketing functions at a range of growth stages of SaaS businesses, chances are I have seen some version of the movie you're watching before, and can work with you to address the challenges that most commonly come up.

Spoiler alert: many of these really come down to human factors—your leadership style, company culture, team motivation, inter-departmental relationships and the types of people you're working with.

So while these challenges can (and should) be contextualised through the lens of Marketing strategy and go-to-market objectives, the real value in mentoring comes from having a co-pilot to navigate the squishy, messy reality of a bunch of people from a range of backgrounds being thrown together into a SaaSy blender and trying to get results while being spun around at high-speed.

If you're looking for ongoing mentoring on how to delicately handle last-minute CEO requests, stubborn team members or colleagues who don't seem to know or care about what Marketing is trying to achieve, then get in touch and we can figure something out.

How does it work?

Picking a mentor is a critical and subjective task that requires the right dynamic for the relationship to be effective.

Book a free, 30-minute session with me to discuss your specific goals or challenges, and get a taste of how we could work together to achieve or overcome them.

1/ Book a call

It all starts with a call! Book some time in with me to discuss what you're looking for in a mentor, and if there's a mutual potential fit.

2/ Pick a package

If, after consideration, you want to proceed, pick the best package to suit your needs. A 1-hour call every 2 weeks (Basic) is a good place to start for most, although in the early stages (ie, the first month), there may be benefit in starting with a block of four weekly calls. You can flex your hours up and down each month as needed, and we can choose to close the agreement at any time.

3/ Set mutual expectations

When we start the mentorship agreement, we will set expectations around how we work together. What this looks like will depend very much on your particular requirements, but getting on the same page with this early is key to getting the most out of mentoring.

4/ Get going!

We will typically identify a few key areas to work on consistently over time. Of course, startups can be a volatile environment, so we can pivot and react as needed to changes in direction. With email support in between sessions, you’ll always have someone in your corner if something comes up unexpectedly!
